General Information
CHMM
The Certified Hazardous
Materials Manager credential was created in 1984
to recognize and promote professional standards
and experience in the management of hazardous
materials. Membership is through local
chapters affiliated with the Academy of
Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (ACHMM).
The CHMM credentialing program
is administered by the Institute of Hazardous
Materials Management and accredited by the
Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty
Boards (CESB).
CHMP (New)
The Certified Hazardous Materials Practitioner
credential was created in 2007. This new credential is also
intended to recognize and promote professional standards and experience
in HM management. Unlike the CHMM credential, the CHMP credential
does not require a four-year college degree. Instead,
practitioners may qualify based on a combination of an associates degree
and three years experience, or no degree and five years experience.
This credentialing program is also administered by the
Institute
of Hazardous Materials Management.
